Dr. Cynthia Lopez wanted to be a doctor since she was 7 years old. She was born in Nassco, Mariveles, Bataan in the Philippines, a rural town of about 5,000 people. Her little town was nestled in between the vast beautiful forest and the blue South China Sea. She was not sure why she wanted to be a doctor even at a young age but one thing for sure she knew, was to honor her parents by being a doctor. Dr. Lopez graduated as a medical doctor in 1982 at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Research Center in the Philippines.
From there, she trained at a U.S. Naval Hospital in the Philippines, then at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In 1994, she and her husband settled in Fresno, California. They have a blended family with 5 grown up children.
Finding My Niche:
A Journey Beyond Surgery
In 2007, when I was 51, I made a decision that would ultimately change the course of my journey in medical aesthetics. It was the year leading up to our 25th medical school reunion, and I couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of dissatisfaction with my appearance. I often avoided the unforgiving lens of the camera, feeling both aged and unattractive. In search of a solution, I turned to Dr. Mark Chin, a plastic surgeon in Fresno
Dr. Chin, with a discerning eye honed by years of practice, took only a few minutes to assess my face. What he suggested, however, was nothing short of astonishing – a surgical facelift. At that moment, I was a complete stranger to cosmetic procedures, having never even considered Botox, let alone a facelift. The very notion of undergoing surgery hit me like a bolt from the blue. I couldn’t help but wonder if I appeared so drastically different from my youthful self to warrant such a recommendation. Leaving Dr. Chin’s office, I carried with me a heavy heart, overwhelmed by a sense of dejection and self-doubt.
Yet, it was this unexpected encounter that ignited a fervent determination within me to seek alternatives to the surgical route. It set me on a path of relentless pursuit of knowledge and hands-on training, not only within the United States but across borders as well. Through unwavering dedication, I honed my skills, becoming proficient in alternative treatments and remedies that didn’t necessitate going under the knife. In the end, my journey led me to discover that I possessed a natural talent for this field – a talent I was eager to share with my patients. My desire was simple: to empower them to feel comfortable and content in their own skin at any age, without resorting to surgery.
Reflecting back, that disheartening experience with the plastic surgeon turned out to be a remarkable blessing in disguise. It propelled me towards my true calling, setting me on a path where I could make a real difference in the lives of others.

At every step of my journey, my thirst for knowledge and a deep desire to serve my patients drove me forward. However, it was a profound revelation that truly defined my path. I discovered my true calling in addressing the scars left by acne—a condition that goes far beyond mere aesthetics.
