thread lift

A Minimally Invasive Path to a Youthful Look

Thread Lift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that aims to mimic the effects of a surgical facelift without the need for cutting or undermining the skin. While it’s important to note that surgical facelifts generally offer superior and longer-lasting results, Thread Lift serves as an intermediate option for those seeking a less invasive approach before considering surgical solutions.

The procedure involves the use of medical-grade absorbable PDO threads, which come in various lengths, thicknesses, and configurations. What sets these threads apart is the presence of tiny hooks or barbs along their length, allowing them to anchor themselves under the skin.

Thread Lift is most effective for individuals with moderate skin laxity in areas like the jowls and neck. In cases where there is excessive sagging or folds of skin, the results may be less dramatic but can still provide some improvement.

How Does Thread Lift Create the Lift?

The process begins with a small needle, creating a tiny entry point in the skin. The PDO thread that comes attached to a blunt-tip cannula, is inserted through this entry point & carefully guided beneath the skin to the targeted area. For example, to lift saggy skin around the mouth, the entry point may be just in front of the ear, with the endpoint just before the fold around the mouth. Depending on the desired lift, multiple barbed threads (typically 3 to 5 on each side) may be inserted through the same entry point, fanning out towards the endpoint. Once the threads are in place, they are gently pulled outward and upward, causing the barbs to engage under the skin. A gentle bunching of the skin at entry point is ideal for achieving the desired lift effect.

To secure the threads in their new position, several steri-strips are applied both along and across the inserted threads. It’s important to allow these steri-strips to detach naturally, which typically occurs within 2 to 3 days. As the threads gradually dissolve over a period of 4 to 6 months, they stimulate the production of new collagen. This newly-formed collagen plays a role in preserving the initial lift in one way or another. In essence, Thread Lift offers a less invasive way to rejuvenate your appearance by using specialized threads to lift and tighten the skin. While it may not replace the results of a surgical facelift, it provides a valuable option for those seeking a subtle and temporary improvement without the need for major surgery.
